Welcome to Plains Community Food Bank, a Church on the Move Ministry where we thrive to fight hunger and help people who face food insecurity in Plains & Paradise. Our services are free and are supported by the generous donations of our community, businesses and various foundation grants. Plains Community Food Bank is operated by an amazing group of volunteers from Church on the Move, Plains Alliance Church, and others from the community. Have a question? Plains Community Food Bank is open from 10AM to 1PM every Tuesday except some holidays.

Using food insecurity demographics by the group Feeding America data from 2021 showed that Sanders County has the 9th highest rate of food insecurity out of the 56 counties that make up Montana. It showed that 1,470 people in Sanders County or 12% of the total population had food insecurity. Of that population 13% do not qualify for SNAP.

Where is Plains Community Food Bank located?

We are located on 300 Central Avenue, Plains, Montana 59859. We are across the breezeway from the Church on the Move building.

When is Plains Community Food Bank open?

We are open every Tuesday from 10AM to 1PM. Should we have a closure, it will be posted on our Facebook page and at our location.

How do I know if I'm eligible to get food from Plains Community Food Bank?

We serve the Plains and Paradise rural areas. Your residential address needs to be Plains or Paradise. Income eligibility is based on the Federal poverty level. Up to 200% above the federal poverty level is accepted.

What do I need to have to sign up for food?

You need identification, proof of your residential address (mail or ID), the names and date of births of those in your household, and estimated monthly income.

How often can I get food?

You can get food from Plains Community Food Bank once a month. Food pantries and food banks are supplementary programs and are not designed to supply all of your food.

I am experiencing an emergency situation. Can I get food even though I don't qualify?

Yes, please contact us at our location during operating hours on Tuesday from 10AM to 1PM or contact us through email at contact@plainsfoodbank.org.

Where and when can I make a food donation?

Food can be dropped off at the food bank during our operating hours on Tuesdays from 10AM to 1PM. If that doesn't work for you, we can schedule a drop off time as long as there is a volunteer available. Food is distributed through the Plains Community Food Bank at our location next to Church On the Move on 300 Central Avenue in Plains.

How can I make a monetary donation?

Donations can be given in person at our location or mailed to PO Box 767, Plains, MT 59859. Online donations through PayPal is coming soon.

Can I write a donation off on my taxes?

Yes! Plains Community Food Bank is a fiscally sponsored Church on the Move Ministry and is a 501-C3 non-profit organization.

Can I volunteer?

Yes! We are always looking for volunteers to fill in, help with food trucks and special events, and for fundraising. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact us at contact@plainsfoodbank.org.
